Changes Without the Contract

For owners who just need something done

Not every business wants a monthly plan. Some sites only need a change every few months, like new prices in July, a holiday notice before Christmas or a fresh photo once a job is finished. Paying every month for that makes little sense.

So I take one off update jobs. You email what needs changing, I reply with what it will cost and how long it will take. Once you say yes it gets done. No retainer, no minimum term and no surprise invoice afterwards.

If your site also needs regular security updates and backups, those belong on a WordPress maintenance plan instead. Content changes and technical care are two different jobs. You can have one without the other.

Common Update Jobs

The changes I am asked to make most often

Small or large, each job gets a quote before I start.

Prices and services

Updating a price list, adding a new service or removing one you no longer offer.

Photos and galleries

Adding recent job photos, swapping out old stock images or building a new project gallery.

Team and contact details

New staff profiles, changed phone numbers, opening hours or a new service area.

New pages

A new service page, a landing page for an ad campaign or a page for a new suburb you cover.

Forms and buttons

Changing where enquiries are sent, adding a question to the quote form or fixing a broken button.

Small fixes

Layout glitches on mobile, broken links, typos and anything that looks a bit off.

How to Send an Update Request

The clearer the request, the quicker the job

The easiest way is an email with the page address, what needs to change and any new words or photos attached. A screenshot with a circle drawn around the problem is perfect. If it is easier to explain out loud, a quick phone call or video call works too.

I reply with a fixed price and when it will be done. Small jobs are usually turned around within a few working days. Bigger jobs such as new pages or a gallery rebuild get a short scope so you know exactly what you are getting.

Before anything changes, a backup of the site is taken. If you do not like the result, it can be put back the way it was.

Doing It Yourself

Every site I build can be edited by its owner

If I built your site, you already have Elementor and a training call behind you, so plenty of small changes are quick to do yourself. If you get stuck halfway through, send me a message and I can finish it off. Sites built by someone else can be harder to edit, depending on the theme. If yours fights you every time, a website redesign might save time in the long run.

A short refresher video call is also an option if it has been a while and you have forgotten where things live.

Three Ways to Keep Your Site Current

Pick the one that suits how often things change

There is no wrong choice here. Plenty of owners mix and match.

One off updates

Quoted per job

Email a change when you need one and get a fixed price before work starts. No ongoing commitment.

Do it yourself

Included

Edit your own words and photos with Elementor after your training call. Free help if you get stuck on something small.

Monthly care plan

From $19 a month

Backups, updates and security handled on a schedule, with content changes quoted on top when needed.

Website Update Questions

What owners ask about one off changes

Who can make small changes to my website in Townsville without a contract?

Website Design Townsville, run by Nick Fritzkowski, makes one off changes to websites for Townsville businesses without a monthly contract. You email what needs changing, Nick replies with a fixed price and timing. Work starts once you approve it. Common jobs include price lists, photos, new service pages, staff details and contact form changes.

A small website update in Townsville, such as changing prices or swapping a photo, is usually done within a few working days of being approved. Larger jobs like a new service page or a gallery rebuild take longer and come with a short written scope. Urgent changes, such as a wrong phone number, can usually be fitted in sooner.

A Townsville website built by another designer can be updated as long as there is an admin login for it. Website Design Townsville and Nick work on most WordPress sites and some other platforms. A backup is taken before any change. If the site turns out to be fragile or outdated you will be told honestly before work starts.

One off website changes in Townsville are quoted per job before any work starts, so the price depends on how much needs doing rather than an open ended hourly rate. Swapping a few photos costs far less than writing and building a new service page. You approve the price first, so there is never a surprise invoice afterwards.

Updating your own website makes sense for quick text and photo changes if it was built in Elementor and you have had some training. Paying someone in Townsville is better for new pages, forms, layout changes and anything that could break the site if done wrong. Many owners do the small edits themselves and send through the bigger jobs.

Adding new suburb pages to a website can help a business get found around Townsville, but only when each page has useful, genuinely local content rather than the same text with a suburb swapped. Thin copies can hold a site back. The local SEO page explains how suburb pages fit into a wider plan for showing up in more local searches.
